– Why do you want to participate in One Water Race?
The challenge. After many years of racing Ironman, I am looking for something less predictable and more exploratory. One Water Race represents exactly that: an unpredictable, demanding adventure where navigation, teamwork and adaptability matter as much as physical fitness.
– Have you taken a similar challenge before?
Earlier in life I completed military service as a platoon leader in a Ranger unit. Much of that training involved prolonged efforts over several days with limited sleep, physical strain and decision-making under fatigue. Navigation, teamwork and shared responsibility were central elements.
– What are your strengths?
As a support teammate, I benefit greatly from racing together with my wife Jenny. I know her extremely well and understand how she reacts physically and mentally. Another strength is my knowledge of fueling and energy management during long-distance events. I am also very comfortable at sea and rarely experience seasickness.
– What are your weaknesses?
My main weakness is limited recent experience from multi-day expedition-style races. However, I am actively preparing for this and see it as an area where I am motivated and quick to learn.
– What would be your biggest challenges in this race?
Learning to read and support my teammates from a distance and making the right decisions at the right time. Another challenge will be staying alert and sharp over a very long period without the adrenaline experienced by active racers.
– Have you been to the Stockholm archipelago and what do you know/think about the terrain?
Yes. I think the Stockholm archipelago is a fantastic environment. The terrain is exciting, demanding, and requires respect, focus and adaptability.
– What are you most looking forward to, if you would participate in One Water Race?
The atmosphere of the event, the sense of adventure, and spending the week together with my teammates and the other teams. Of course, I am also looking forward to reaching Landsort as the culmination of the entire journey.
