– World elite athletes and the public face an unprecedented challenge
From June 13–16, 2026, One Water Race Stockholm will take place – a new endurance race where the world’s top endurance athletes will race around central Stockholm through swimming and running for 24 hours non-stop. At the same time, the public will have the opportunity to participate in shorter distances. The race, which will be broadcast to 190 countries and live-streamed, aims to highlight Stockholm’s access to clean water and cement the city’s profile as the water capital of the world.
“We want to drive the development of endurance racing and showcase Stockholm’s accessibility to clean water, and with the city’s stunning waters as the arena, One Water Race Stockholm will become a celebration to endurance racing and for participants, spectators, and TV viewers alike,” says Thomas Ogander, founder of One Water Race.
A Festival for all in Central Stockholm The race will start and finish at Skeppsbron in the heart of Stockholm, where visitors can follow the race on large screens, enjoy stage entertainment, and attend lectures focusing on health and water environments. The race is open to everyone, but at the same time, there will be a professional race where the world’s best endurance athletes will face the challenge of completing as many laps around Stockholm as possible in 24 hours.
– “We aim to create pride in what Stockholm has to offer as the water capital of the world. By broadcasting the race live and distributing the race production to 190 countries, we turn a local event into a global one, bringing endurance racing and the important issue of clean water to the forefront,” says Thomas Ogander.
Stockholm in the Spotlight – A Local Experience with Global Reach The event is a collaboration between One Water Race and Länsstyrelsen Stockholm (Stockholm County Administrative Board) to contribute to the city’s development as a sustainable and innovative city. The event is also connected to the multi-year project Stop Fueling the Sea, which has been initiated by One Water Race and Länsstyrelsen Stockholm.
“One Water Race Stockholm will be a platform where different forces for water environments can come together. Together, we will further establish Stockholm, the capital of Scandinavia, a global and national destination for both businesses and visitors,” concludes Thomas Ogander.

About One Water Race and One Water Race Stockholm
One Water Race is the original extreme race where the world’s leading endurance athletes complete 250 kilometers between Arholma and Landsort through running, swimming, and orienteering. The race is non-stop and takes place in Stockholm’s archipelago every August. The purpose of the race is to raise awareness about the urgent environmental threat to the world’s oceans, which account for 30% of the planet’s carbon emissions, and to put Sweden, Stockholm’s archipelago, and the critical water issue in the spotlight.
One Water Race Stockholm is an extension of One Water Race and is a long-distance competition where the world’s top endurance athletes will race around central Stockholm through swimming and running for 24 hours non-stop. At the same time, the public will have the opportunity to participate in shorter distances. It is an initiative that strengthens Stockholm’s position as the world’s water capital and a sustainable destination.
