Q&A
– What other experiences do you have that demonstrates your competence and ability to complete One Water Race?
* 30 Expedition length Adventure Races over the last 15 years
* 15 years Australian Orienteering team member
* 2 Orienteering World Championships, multiple World Cup events
– Why do you want to participate in One Water Race?
The 2022 OWR showed I was still able to push through boundaries I didn’t think I could break, and achieve a team result that I am very proud of. With the added knowledge I have learned from the experience I feel we can push harder in 2023.
– Have you taken a similar challenge before?
Yes, OWR2022 and 30 expedition races around the world over the last 15 years.
– What are your strengths?
My strength is to help keep the team moving in the right direction with a lifetime of experience navigating in Orienteering and Adventure Races. I find the longer the race goes, the better I’m able to excel.
– What are your weaknesses?
My swimming leg is weak compared to my running and experience. I plan to work hard to improve this during the year.
– What would be your biggest challenges in this race?
Managing the challenging weather conditions. In 2022 we were fortunate to receive mild conditions, but we can’t expect that everytime we race on the Archipelago.
– Have you been to the Stockholm archipelago and what do you know/think about the terrain?
Yes, I raced in OWR 2022 so I know one path from Arholma Nord to Landsort very well. I also lived in Stockholm for a few months competing in orienteering and know the typical forest terrain very well.
– What are you most looking forward to, if you would participate in One Water Race?
Meeting the teams and staff again and building the relationships from 2022 that made the experience so rewarding.
