One Water Race Stockholm 20K

An epic challenge in the heart of Stockholm City

Introduction

Swimrun offers the ultimate blend of sport and nature, and few sports provide the variety and dynamics of swimrun—alternating swimming and running in natural settings. We want to contribute to the development of swimrun by introducing a new format that increases the pace, intensifies the sport, and raises the pressure in every segment. All to elevate performance and experience — One Water Race Stockholm 20K.

The Race

A 20k format in an urban environment, pushing racers to maintain a high pace where every step, climb, and swim matters. A format where speed, skill, and teamwork are crucial. Being the first to transition from swim to run—or vice versa—can be decisive. This format rewards speed, efficiency, and cooperation in every segment.

Format

One Water Race Stockholm 20K is a pure swimrun concept that emphasizes speed and preparation. Transitions are sharp, and the transition area has limited space to reward those who are quickest and best prepared to switch from swim to run and vice versa.

A professional class featuring 10 women’s teams and 10 men’s teams. Participation by invitation or application only.

An open class welcoming women’s and men’s teams.

The Course

The course is designed to test both swimming and running capacity, with sufficient swim distances to be decisive. The 75% running portion (over 15K) takes place in Stockholm’s slightly hilly city center, mainly on asphalt with some gravel paths. The 25% swimming (over 5K) takes place in Riddarfjärden and Saltsjön, offering lake-like conditions that can become demanding in windy weather. Swim segments vary from 12–15 segments of 200–400 meters, with at least one segment over 1,000 meters.
