Command the Waters, Join as a Skipper

August 19–21 | Operations begin on Arholma August 18

To organize a race of this magnitude, we rely on a committed and highly skilled team. In 2025, the organization will include around 100 people, including skippers, volunteers, and professional media crews. The race fleet consists of 25 boats and 40 skippers, assigned to various operational roles such as team boats, media boats, logistics, navigation, command, and safety – all supported by two motherships, brig Tre Kronor and minesweeper M20, as well as several hostels throughout the archipelago acting as logistics hubs.

We are now looking for experienced skippers who are confident navigating the Stockholm archipelago – particularly in darkness and demanding weather. Radar and night navigation skills are essential, and commercial licenses or equivalent qualifications are highly valued. Our skipper team includes professionals from the Coast Guard, Swedish Sea Rescue Society, maritime police, and the military.

In addition, we welcome boat owners who want to contribute their vessels to the race. Ideally, these are cabin boats with radar, built for archipelago conditions – from brands like Viggo, Anytec, Arronet, Alukin, or similar. If you’re not available to skipper your own boat, we have licensed and experienced captains ready to operate it safely and professionally.

Whether you join as a skipper or support the mission with your boat, you’ll become part of a capable, adventurous, and tightly-knit community. We offer a unique and rewarding experience for those who love the archipelago and want to contribute to something greater.

This year’s race takes place during Week 34 (August 19–21), with operations beginning on Arholma early Monday, August 18, and concluding late on Thursday, August 21.

We’d love to have you with us – and we’ll make sure your involvement is both meaningful and memorable.

About One Water Race – The Ultimate Proof of Human Capacity

In 2022, One Water Race was established as the world’s toughest endurance race, covering more than 250 km through the entire Stockholm archipelago.

Athletes must make their way from Arholma in the north to Landsort in the south, non-stop, using only swimming, running, and orienteering – with no digital navigation aids. The challenge pushes every physical and mental boundary, with the mission of elevating endurance racing and spotlighting the unique beauty and environmental urgency of the Stockholm archipelago.

One Water Race is a professional race that attracts the absolute elite of ultra-endurance athletes from around the world. The concept is simple: start at Arholma, finish at the lighthouse on Landsort. First to the finish wins.

A comprehensive media production surrounds the event, created to highlight the global water crisis and the environmental development of our unique archipelago. Through live broadcasting, sports coverage, interviews, and documentary formats – combined with innovative technology and 24/7 coverage – we deliver a unique viewing experience.

Our productions currently reach over 190 countries across 5 continents, and the race serves as our flagship platform to break through the media noise and bring global attention to the water crisis.

The event is distributed in partnership with Schibsted, and the live broadcast will be aired on TV4 Play.
