– Why do you want to participate in One Water Race?
I’m looking forward to helping my Australian team to excel with the local knowledge I’ve picked up since living in Sweden. It will be great to have the event, and the region highlighted to spectators around the world.
– Have you taken a similar challenge before?
No I haven’t. The Swimrun World Championships have been the longest event I have completed, but the OneWaterRace is a long longer!
– What are your strengths?
I have an extensive history of orienteering, representing Australia at many World Championships events since 2005. I also know the Stockholm Archipelago from my competitions there since taking up swimrun in the last few years.
– What are your weaknesses?
Hopefully I don’t need to stay awake as long as the competitors as I do love my comfortable bed.
– What will be your biggest challenge?
Living in Sweden means I won’t get a chance to spend much time with the team prior to the event. I’ve lived with Rob before so know all his bad habits, but I’m yet to learn what to expect from Ben and Elizabeth.
– Have you been to the Stockholm archipelago?
I live in Stockholm and have spent lots of time there over the last 10 years. The archipelago is an amazing place to holiday with the family, and the OneWaterRace will share this special region with the world.
– What do you know/think about the terrain?
I’ve raced in this terrain for nearly 20 years of orienteering for local clubs, and for the last 8 years competing in Swimrun event such as Otillo. I’m not going to give all my secrets away to the other teams, but I will have some good tips to help our team excel.
– What are you most looking forward to?
Supporting the team with their route choice decisions and motivation.
