André together with his sidekick Hans Fahlén, formed the core of the media team for the international documentary being produced. You never saw either one of them without the other close by their side, and you never saw André without a camera in his hands. Constantly on the lookout for situations that could possibly create material for the documentary – Completely impossible to predict and for that reason, the biggest challenge of the task. It turned out we were in the hands of the ultra-runners who followed the teams. Thanks to only a short brief on how to film/documentary photos, we got the materials we were looking for.
“Apart from the professional athletes, the nature experience and a fantastic organization, my tribute goes to the runners who followed the teams. Without them, we wouldn’t have gotten the material we wanted.”
What were your duties during the One Water Race?
Together with Hans Fahlén, we developed the concept and idea for all filmed content. We produced all personal and team portraits. During the race, I was the responsible photographer for what will become an international documentary. During the race, the goal was to monitor all teams and try to capture the most spectacular situations/events.
What was the biggest challenge during the race?
The biggest challenge as a documentary filmmaker is to be able to cover the teams that we wanted to follow. Capturing events that may be included in a documentary is completely impossible to predict. It turned out that we were in the hands of the safety runners who followed the teams with a camera during the whole race. Thanks to a short brief on film/documentary photos for them, we got the materials we were looking for…
What was the greatest experience/memory you take with you?
Apart from the professional athletes, the nature experience and a fantastic organization, my tribute goes to the runners who followed the teams. Without them, we would not have received the material we wanted.
What do you do when not being part of the OWR-organization?
I have a background as a film photographer and producer for 25 years. I have always wanted to work close to nature and have filmed on all continents. In water, on mountains, on skis, vertically, running or on a bike. I have produced adventure races before and races such as ÖtillÖ and the documentary From Adventure to Sports, TV4. It is a pleasure to have been asked to be part of the One Water Race organization.
