Why do you participate in OWR?
The OWR is a new, unknown crazy event, which our team thrives on and has a greater collective experience than most teams that are possibly assembled. We know this will be a brutal event, but for us we’ll be able to heavily draw on our decades of top level expedition racing tackling some of the toughest events on the planet. The dream of combining swimming with an expedition/adventure race style event has long been in the back of our minds as race directors – but we recognize that the location of the Stockholm Archipelago is beyond ideal for this type of test of human capacity. And the environmental message is on point.
What will be the biggest challenge?
As we know swimming and running will be critical, but teamwork, navigation, managing sleep deprivation and deep emotional and physical fatigue, will be even more critical. There are few teams in the world better equipped for this race than we are.
What are your goals?
We know this will be a tough event to survive, but we know our experience and drive will see us not only completing the event but also competing for the win. Drawing heavily on Andy and Jason’s extensive expedition experience, Annie’s deep swimrun capability, and Brent’s all around skill and great capacity as a captain, swimmer, navigator and seaman – we are poised to win the event.
