Our Story

Born From Passion and Purpose

One Water Race was founded by Thomas Ogander, a sports and media professional with a deep passion for endurance sports and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Growing up close to the Stockholm archipelago and a background as a marine combat diver, Thomas witnessed the changes impacting this unique ecosystem and felt a strong desire to protect it.

His vision was to combine his passions— endurance sports, media development and environmental advocacy-to create a platform that could raise global awareness about the urgent challenges facing our world waters and the one water we have.

The result was One Water Race, a race that not only pushes human limits but also harnesses the power of sport to create attention and spread important messages about our climate and the acute crisis for our world’s water.

What We Do

One Water Race integrates state-of-the-art digital technology with extreme athleticism to create a transformative experience for athletes, audiences, and partners alike. Our mission is to lead the development of a new era of endurance racing through a unique live broadcast experience that conveys the fascinating drama of endurance racing and which, combined with utilizing cutting-edge live data sensors, redefines how we understand human performance.

At the heart of One Water Race is our Digital Intelligence Platform, a market-leading data and media management development framework and the nexus between technological innovation, public and commercial packaging. It connects technology, sport and health in a way that drives both commercial opportunities and scientific breakthroughs. A new era in human digitization.

A Race Like No Other

The race itself is a grueling 250-kilometer journey through the Stockholm Archipelago, combining running, swimming, and orienteering with no breaks for days on end. Only the world’s best endurance athletes compete in this relentless race, pushing their physical and mental limits to bring awareness to critical environmental issues, particularly the protection of our world waters.

We Only Have One Water

Global warming is humanity’s toughest challenge, and our biggest threat is the fossil emissions and its impact. Our world waters absorb more than 90% of the global warming and we must immediately reduce fossil emissions. We only have one water, therefore the name One Water Race. Through our media presence and partnerships, we shine a spotlight on our world waters and that we need to take care of the One Water we have.

Partnerships & Science

One Water Race is part of The Human Integration HUB, a unique grouping with world leading institutions such as the Stockholm School of Health and Sports Science (GIH), the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Karolinska Institutet (KI), that unites science, technical innovation and digital development with the aim of being a world leader in the integration and distribution of human real-time data for the benefit of global sport, public health and clinical care.

The Future Of Live Broadcast

One Water Race produces the world’s longest live broadcast of sports over 65 hours based entirely on digital innovation and developments in both hardware and software. We produce a captivating drama and a new era in sports and Slow TV and together with our world-leading partners we create a showcase for progressive digital innovation and the development of advanced live productions in extreme environments for a global market.
