It is a long, long race, and disrespecting the course by getting distracted by competitors could have dire consequences.”

”There was a certain calm as we stood at the bat

”There was a certain calm as we stood at the battery awaiting the countdown, but that turned into a scramble at the announcement of ”3, 2, 1, GO!” We quickly opened our maps, drew out our route, and before we knew it, we were racing south. Having competed in many swimruns, I was used to the jittery excitement as all the teams raced away from the starting line, but quickly realized that this was a completely different ballgame 200m into the run as the first team turned down a separate trail from us. Then 2km later when the group split yet again, I realized that this was no ordinary swimrun race. There was an additional sense of adventure on top of the sport that I already love, and I was here for it!”

”One of the coolest swims happened after a fairl

”One of the coolest swims happened after a fairly long run. Someone told Nanna to watch for the ferry that would be coming by, and Nanna said that wouldn’t be a problem for us to make it in time. And as we were lying there, and I, as usual, was only breathing to the right, I could see the ferry approaching! I saw and heard Nanna at the front of the boat shouting to Alex, ”Faster! Faster!” And HOLY HELL, did he pick up the pace. It was insane swimming next to the Finland ferry and you felt as small as an ant. Turns out the ferry was 10 minutes ahead of schedule... 😅”

”Its hard to talk about 2024 without looking back at 2023. Its no secret that pulling out of the 2023 race left us disappointed. It also left us with a monkey on our back coming into 2024, when we saw how easy it was to get unlucky with illness, our minds were constantly filled with worry, what if it happens again? But it also lit a fire in us all to come back in 2024 and prove to everyone and most importantly ourselves that we could make it to Landsort.

We had a good year of preparation, its never perfect and we always wish that maybe we could have done more but the feeling in Arholma when we were all there, our equipment was ready, everyone was healthy filled us with a good nervous energy, we were ready to give it everything we had.”

”The days leading into the race proved to be challenging as Isabella came down with an illness. Our ability to even start the race remained in question up until 24 hours out, as we were waiting to see if her illness would subside. Finally, the day before the race, her fever cleared and we got the green light to start.”
