Q&A
– What other experiences do you have that demonstrates your competence and ability to complete One Water Race?
Has competed in various long distance races for a long time, both individually and in teams. In recent years, however, there have been more private, longer challenges and adventures without competition. Such as running in the swedish mountains, the Kungsleden, swimming across Lake Vänern, swimrun and testing the track from Arholma to Landsort.
– Why do you want to participate in One Water Race?
We had a very good team last year, both in terms of team spirit and strength. And we had a lot of fun! We learned a lot. There is much to improve!
OWR is probably the coolest and most incredible thing you can do if you like swimrun.
To swim and run through days and nights in Stockholm's fantastic archipelago. To be with the nature and with good friends for an extra ordinary long race and adventure that really requires something out of the ordinary.
– Have you taken a similar challenge before?
Yes, once, OWR 2023. Together with Annika and other friends, we have done larger parts of a similar route but in different stages. Have done several similar swimrun challenges.
– What are your strengths?
My strength is swimming. Has a background as an elite swimmer and is very used to swimming in open water. Copes with cold fairly well, is rarely affected by being cooled down. Long experience with swimrun. In the swimrun, it is important to help each other in order to move forward as a team in the fastest way. I am strong in the water and is often the one who pulls the slightly weaker swimmers. Usually swims very straight during long swims, despite poor eyes. Has a positive mindset during races and, like most long-distance competitor, has a stubbornness and ability to push the body for a long time.
– What are your weaknesses?
Running in hilly trail terrain. Especially under poor lighting and evening/night. Run over boulders, slippery parts. Also need to strengthen and train ankle joints to cope with soft surfaces. Details, but which are very important to cope with the long run. Also needs a large amount of nutrition, energy and, above all, fluid to cope with longer races.
– What would be your biggest challenges in this race?
The lack of sleep and getting enough fluids, nutrition and energy. Swimming and navigate in total darkness. Orienteering.
– Have you been to the Stockholm archipelago and what do you know/think about the terrain?
Yes, I spend most of the summers out in the archipelago. Are well acquainted with the terrain and really likes it.
– What are you most looking forward to, if you would participate in One Water Race?
The challenge, the adventure, the long distance, the community with the team, both before with training and during the competition. A memory for life. To finally slap the door at the lighthouse at Landsort, Öja.
