Q&A
– Why do you want to participate in One Water Race?
OWR is a chance to compete against top athletes in an environment that will make everyone extremely uncomfortable. Sounds like the perfect vacation! Aside from the sport component, the social aspect is definitely something I have lived and believed in my entire life. My life has revolved around water so any chance to help promote this precious resource is somewhere I want to be.
– Have you taken a similar challenge before?
I have done the Ecochallenge Fiji which surprisingly featured more cold days than warm. Aside from that, I was part of a relay that swam across Monterey Bay which was in very cold water full of stinging jellyfish…a very long day!
– What are your strengths?
My strengths are having the memory of a goldfish. I don’t get stuck on setbacks and tend to always be way too optimistic.
– What are your weaknesses?
My optimism can sometimes lead me to think things are going to be much easier than they are and then I find myself in tough situations.
– What will be your biggest challenge?
Staying warm and trying to run when cold.
– Have you been to the Stockholm archipelago?
While I never got to play on the islands, I did get to see them from the glorious Viking cruise line en route to Finland.
– What do you know/think about the terrain?
The terrain looks tough but super fun as you get to climb rocks, run through forests, swim and hopefully not get too lost.
– What are you most looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to starting the race and getting to experience the islands first hand.
