Why do you participate in OWR?
We like to explore our limits, and at One Water Race we believe that we are going to find some new frontier facing the best teams in the world in an unprecedented expedition. And, of course, this is our opportunity to support an initiative that aims to defend our seas and oceans.
What will be the biggest challenge?
The difficulty in any adventure competition depends on factors such as the terrain, the distance, the distribution of the disciplines, the weather, and, of course, the rivals. In the Stockholm archipelago we will face nine powerful teams that will be very difficult to overcome. That will be the main challenge.
How do you train for a challenge like this?
To prepare ourselves we will make a specific plan of about twelve weeks that will progressively include long distances on cross country terrain with the appropriate slope, a weekly swim that will exceed thirty kilometers per week and many transitions, especially in the final stretch of the process. Orienteering will be key, and the dynamics between the navigators too, a lot of work will have to be done on that. Teamwork is guaranteed, it is one of our strengths in the Adventure Race World Series.
What is your strength as a team?
Our strength lies in recognizing our weaknesses and seeking to overcome them. Step by step we have managed to compete relaxed, managing to stabilize high averages taking care of each member of the team. When we make a mistake there are no claims, there are actions to correct it.
What are your goals?
Our goals are to train very hard to feel comfortable in the race, because if that happens, we can be among the best; make few mistakes and manage them in the best possible way; come out of this challenge better than when we started it.
What are you most looking forward to?
We expect a very intense race from the start, with a few hours at sprint pace and then the race little by little putting each team in its place. As happens to us when we fight for first place in an international event, we will see beautiful landscapes pass before our eyes where we will want to return without much haste.
