I strongly identify with the ethos of the race. I believe that the health of our planet and our waters is a critical issue for our generation to tackle. I love the idea of challenging the human potential for strength and endurance as a way to bring attention to the cause. The purity of only swimming and running to get from point A to point B is an amazing format. Not motors, no wheels, just the human body, moving over land and through water.
– Have you taken a similar challenge before?
No. I have been a competitive swimmer and competitive runner over a variety of distances but I have never raced over multiple days continuously.
– What are your strengths?
Swimming and running.
Calm, positive attitude under duress.
Love for new adventures/challenges.
– What are your weaknesses?
Lack of orienteering skills and experience.
Lack of multi-day racing experience.
– What will be your biggest challenge?
I see two things as the biggest challenges facing me:
Multi-day endurance / sleep deprivation
Orienteering and route finding
I intend to rely heavily on my team for helping me overcome these challenges during the One Water Race.
– Have you been to the Stockholm archipelago?
No.
– What do you know/think about the terrain?
Not much! From research, the Stockholm archipelago looks beautiful. I am expecting the swims to potentially be choppy/stormy and the runs to be rocky.
– What are you most looking forward to?
Taking on this incredible challenge along with my team as well as all the other amazing teams that are participating!
Visiting the beauty of the Stockholm archipelago and immersing myself in Swedish culture (I have never been to Sweden before).
