”As the light started to return for Day 2, the sleep deprivation started to affect our decision making. Our transitions started to get a bit slower and the time on land started growing longer. Ultimately, as the length of the race grew, it was becoming apparent that we were hitting up to the 8 hour time limit.”

💥 Fifth team out in the One Water Race 2025 Team Launch

This is TEAM 5 - FRA/SWE 🇫🇷🇸🇪

A powerhouse of experience, endurance, and determination. This exceptional team consists of Desirée Andersson, a former competitive swimmer and one of the most accomplished athletes in the sport, Lars Ekman, a Swedish military athlete with a career since 2011 who has never missed a podium, Hugo Tormento, a former French national swimmer who set a new ÖtillÖ World Championship record by 38 minutes in 2022, and Nicolas Tormento, based in Stockholm since 2019, who brings invaluable local expertise as support crew.

“Since the race was first held in 2021, it has been Hugo and Nicolas' dream to participate. Knowing each other’s strengths, we realized we needed the perfect team to succeed. After years of searching, we believe we have found the ideal teammates in Desirée and Lars, and we’re excited to embark on this incredible adventure together.”

"A long and cold swim put us in a bad state, but still with a mental game of moving forward. Running along Fjärdlång Marikas breathing was bad, but we moved fast on the fantastic trail. This was at the same time the highlight of the race, such beauty, and also the start of the end for Team 4."

A dedicated squad united by one mission: to represent Great Britain in the One Water Race, push their limits, and reach the lighthouse together. Since January 2024, they have been training relentlessly for this extreme challenge, where endurance, strategy, and teamwork will be the key to success. The goal is not just to compete – they want to grow, learn, and develop as a team.

“The ultimate goal is to get to the finish, one way or another. Regardless of where we finish we look forward to the training and the journey, whilst laying a solid foundation for future GB teams.”

”Weather and conditions were very challenging this year. Some intense patches of cold water as well as strong currents from the south and wind, so much wind. Most noticeable was this for the infamous crossing of Danzinger Gatt. A huge moment in the race, and really not until one had succeeded at this can one begin to dream of touching the lighthouse door.”

Their true strength lies in their ability to collaborate, inspire, and motivate one another, creating a powerful synergy that drives them forward. Through mutual trust, transparency, and a continuous motivation for improvement, they lift each other’s strengths to new heights. With high spirits and extensive experience, Team 3 is excited to take part in the One Water Race 2025 !

”We had a bit of a low point at night, but that was offset by the sheer beauty of a full super moon rise over farmhouses. We were in awe of the incredible archipelago at night, lit by the moon and stars. We were even able to navigate using the moon during a few of our swims. It was amazing to be traversing these islands, just human versus nature, feeling so blessed to be a part of this epic adventure.”

This is TEAM 2️⃣ - USA/FRA 🇺🇸🇫🇷

Battle-tested in the One Water Race, three of these athletes have faced the challenge before but never reached the finish. Now, joined by a six-time French Elite Triathlon champion and Olympic athlete, they form TEAM 2 - USA/FRA.

“We are all experienced swimrunners and endurance athletes. We embrace the challenge and want to finish what we started, so we are very much driven to reach the lighthouse on Landsort.”

Will this dynamic new lineup conquer the race and reach the finish? All signs point to yes! 💯
