Get Your Shit Together - The Final Preparations Before the Start

In the final episode of the "Road To", we witness the arrival of all the athletes in Sweden as they make their way to the starting point at Arholma, located in the northernmost part of the Stockholm archipelago. We also get an inside look at the organization behind the world's longest live sports broadcast, which is now set to prove itself after a year of preparations. The moment has arrived—is everything in place? For the competitors, there are only hours left before the biggest challenge of their lives: the One Water Race 2024.

In this sixth and final episode of the 'Road To', we meet Marcus Moberg, Assistant Head Professor and researcher at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences in Stockholm. This is the second year Marcus conducts his research on the athletes in the competition, but this year he has taken it a step further. The competitors are now equipped with more sensors, allowing us to monitor their data in real-time throughout the race. Additionally, a mobile blood lab will be available on-site. In the episode, we also follow Marcus as he conducts his rigorous preparatory tests on Marika Wagner, who competes for Team 4 - Sweden.

In the fifth episode of the "Road to the toughest race in the world", we follow Vincent Meyer, competing with Team 5 Germany, as he and his teammates prepare for the late summer competition. Vincent is a top athlete with an unusually wide range of training methods. Here, he talks about how he recently began serious swim training and the strategy he uses to overcome the fear of venturing out to swim in dark, unfamiliar open water.

In this fourth episode of the 'Road to', we meet Swedish athlete Marika Wagner, competing with Team 4 Sweden. Marika shares her insights on building the perfect team, what it takes, and what is expected of a team member under extreme conditions. She also recounts the competition where the team stopped functioning, almost leading to a disastrous outcome.

In this third episode of 'Road to', we meet Australian Adriel Young from Team 6 - Sweden/Australia. Adriel left his life as a reality TV star and lifeguard at Bondi Beach for his love, moved to Sweden, and became a firefighter. Adriel talks about his experiences of hitting the wall during competitions, but also how to best prevent it and how to help a team member if it is about to happen.

EPISODE 2 - HANDLING THE COLD
In this second episode we meet 28-year-old Kayla Kobelin from Team 2 USA. We get to accompany Kayla during her training-intensive days in the beautiful landscape of the Northwestern United States and hear her talk about her preparations, and major concerns, to handle the cold and the risks of hypothermia - something that Kyla has previously experienced.

EPISODE 1 - 60 HOURS WITHOUT SLEEP
Glenn Wilkinson from Team 3 Australia talks about how he copes with the great challenge of not sleeping for 60 hours while putting himself and his body under extreme stress. Glenn also describes how last year's race caused his brain to replay the race in his sleep for weeks after the finish.
